1: Before You Start
Exhibit concept and layout
Who do you anticipate will be the users of your exhibits site? What content might they be most interested in? Keep these things in mind when you review a few exhibits, as it will help you make choices regarding default item display, search, and the extent and nature of context you provide.
A great way to get ideas for your exhibit is to see how other exhibit creators have put together their exhibits. Be sure to browse through some existing Spotlight sites to see the wide range of ways your colleagues and colleagues at other institutions have used it to highlight their collections.
The basic structure of an exhibit includes a home page, browse page, an about page, and optional feature page(s). Take a look at several exhibits and make a note of the page layouts you like that might work well for your content.
